There is always something going on at the Fremont Street Experience located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas on the historic street that started it all. The world-famous, one-of-a-kind entertainment venue is home to Viva Vision, the biggest big screen on the planet. More than 12 million lights in the Viva Vision canopy and 550,000 watts of concert quality sound pumped to speakers throughout the venue produce an incredible array of eye-popping imagery and heart pounding music. Viva Vision shows appear nightly on the hour beginning at dusk and are free and open to the public. The giant LED screen towers 90-feet above a pedestrian mall lined with unique retail shopping kiosks and two permanent performance stages. Ten legendary casinos line Fremont Street Experience with more than 60 restaurants and thousands of loose slots. Free concerts, special events, and roaming street performers entertain the nearly 17 million visitors who come to experience the vintage Vegas attraction each year. |
HISTORY
Long before Bugsy Seigel envisioned the Flamingo Hotel/Casino and long before the Las Vegas Strip was populated by pirates, volcanoes, castles or pyramids, there was downtown Las Vegas. Since the city was incorporated in 1911, downtown Las Vegas--Fremont Street, in particular--has been an integral part of the community and in the gaming industry's forefront.
Fremont Street has been the site of numerous "firsts" in Las Vegas: the first street to be paved (1925); the first traffic light; the first elevator (the Apache Hotel in 1932); and the first high-rise (the Fremont Hotel in 1956). When gaming was legalized in 1931, the first Nevada gaming license was issued to the Northern Club at 15 E. Fremont Street. Meanwhile, the Horseshoe was the first casino to install carpeting while the Golden Nugget was the first structure designed from the ground up to be a casino.
"By the time the El Rancho opened as the first casino on the Las Vegas Strip in 1941, downtown Las Vegas had 36 years of history," said Donald D. Snyder, Chairman of The Fremont Street Experience Limited Liability Company. "The Fremont Street Experience, the next phase of the street's evolution, is being designed to help revitalize Downtown Las Vegas and return this part of the community to a place of prominence in the gaming industry."
In the 1940s the emergence of neon began to transform a drab Fremont Street into Glitter Gulch. The Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce unveiled Vegas Vic --an icon for Fremont Street--in 1947, and Wayne Newton opened at the Fremont Hotel/Casino in 1956.
The Fremont Street Experience, the cornerstone for the comprehensive redevelopment of downtown Las Vegas, is a private/public partnership between The Fremont Street Experience Company--owned by the collection of downtown casino operators--and the City of Las Vegas.
Like the entrepreneurial spirit that built downtown Las Vegas, today's leaders are using that same independent and enterprising nature to make the Fremont Street Experience the catalyst for downtown's future as a viable economic core and attraction for tourism.
VIVA VISION
Dazzling Displays. Superior Sound. Viva Vision ! Beginning June 14, 2004, the famous Fremont Street Experience Light and Sound show reached new peaks of technological wonder with a brand new creation: Viva Vision ! Created by LG CNS Co., Ltd., the industry's foremost authority on dazzling, state-of-the-art light and animation display technology, this $17 million phenomena has delighted visitors with larger-than-life animations, integrated live video feeds, and synchronized music – all delivered on a high-tech overhead canopy that extends the length of more than five football fields! Once the Vegas sun has set, visitors can peer upward to experience over 12.5 million synchronized LED modules offering crisp, high-resolution images and astounding special affects – all synched to a lively sound-track fed through a state-of-the-art, 550,000-watt, concert-quality sound system.
Both first-time visitors and those who have witnessed and enjoyed the original Fremont Street Experience Light and Sound Show will be amazed by the technological wonders of this one-of-a-kind experience. Three brand new Viva Vision productions are currently airing nightly: “The Drop,” a mythical underwater journey created by Hollywood design agency, Imaginary Forces; “Area 51,” a peak at a fantastical alien world created by Fremont Street Experience's own design team; and “American Freedom,” a patriotic salute to the Red, White and Blue. As always, the shows are free and can be viewed from just about any angle along the five-block pedestrian promenade.

Their graphic display system located 90 feet above the venue surface may be programmed to display a company logo, a short presentation, or a mini light and sound show, which they will create to meet your specifications.
And of course, throughout your event will be a presentation of their amazing Viva Vision shows, every hour on the hour, beginning at dusk.
