The holidays arenít the only thing to look forward toPosted By Jennifer Levin - 11/13/18

holidaysrodents_520_09 The holidays arenít the only thing to look forward to with the cooler weatherÖ.

You may be noticing the weather outside is getting colder, and with that, it may mean you could have some unwelcome guests hiding inside, beneath or within the walls of your home.  Sorry folks, scorpions, rodents, and other pests do not like the cold, so they'll often come inside your home during the winter where they can stay warm. Donít want to cuddle up with a warm cup of cocoa and a blanket this winter, here are some things you can do to protect your home this winter:

1. Make sure each and every point of entry of your home is sealed and closed off.  Scorpions and cockroaches can and will enter through the tiniest of tiny cracks. A good rule of thumb is, if you can see daylight through an entry point, you will need to seal it because chances areÖ.. letís just say, seal it;

2. Make sure trees and any bushes stay are trimmed away from your home. Rodents and pests can jump from branches to your home. Experts suggest that trees should be trimmed at least eight feet away from the home.

It is a big misconception that insects, like cockroaches, and scorpions die out in the winter.   Even though you cannot see them, doesnít mean they arenít there.
